Exhaust pipe 2" ???
« on: January 08, 2018, 10:44:08 PM »
Hey guys, What's a good size pipe to run from my header to a Thrush Hush muffler. would 2" pipe be good enough? Stock 2.0 motor 4 speed.

My tri collector off my header fits in a 2" I.d pipe and the muffler is 2 1/4 on both ends.

Thanks

2 inch pipe is just perfect for any Pinto, If you look at your muffler closely you will see that regardless of the inlet and outlet size the hole thru the core will always be 2 inch. The Walker super turbo mufflers come in different core sizes and are a very good muffler for the street. Been there / done that!
Its better to be a has-been, than a never was.

unless you have a turbocharged or highly modified N/A car I agree on the 2" pipe size.

When I had a muffler shop in the 70's we used to sell a TON of the Walker turbo mufflers. 2 1/2" in & out & a 2 1/2" core. PN was 21350 IIRC.  Used to buy them 300 at a time.  Lots of them went on vans & 70's muscle cars & corvettes & quite a few on turbocharged Pintos!

the only substitute for cubic inches is BOOST!!!
