Don't cut up the radio bezel; MP3 Input for stock AM radios!
« on: December 30, 2008, 01:21:13 PM »
Hey everyone, I have a line on a new product that no one really knows about yet I have no idea why though. I am on my third Pinto, and I got really excited when I found out about the Redirad. I've been looking for a way to not hack up the stock radio bezel like I did on my first car. I'm going to put one in my '78 Sedan with the stock AM radio when I get the new turbo motor in it. Here's the story: a couple of weeks ago a local engineer came into our shop and showed us a new product that he is producing. His website is www.rediscover radio.com He demonstrated it to us, and my boss bought a few in the hopes that we could sell them on eBay for a discounted price. It just hooks up to the antenna input and switched battery power. There is a relay that kills the external antenna when it detects audio on the 1/8" input jack. That means NO interference at all. Let me know if you may be interested in a discount on this.

Thanks,
Mark Brunner

Either spelling takes you to the same place, actually.  ;)

I have one of these on ebay. Is it okay to talk about that here? I messaged the moderator and he hasn't responded to a potential group buy. I have these for $119 plus $5 shipping. If this isn't the right place, please advise me and I will change this post.

Thanks,
Mark Brunner

I just bought one of these from Mark and has it installed in about 10 minutes. It was easy to install, just grounded the box to the radios ground and hooked the positive up to the fuse for the radio with a (supplied) clip. Antenna was pluged into the box and from there to the radio. I mounted mine to the heater box with a piece of double sided tape so that no holes were drilled and it is totally hidden from sight. I ran the 1/8 audio plug into the glove box where the iPod was waiting. Plug in the iPod, tune the radio to 1000 and *BAM*! Cheap Trick is back on the AM just like they should be! The unit works GREAT and if you are done listening to Don Henley, just unplug it and you are back on AM with wide selection of Mexican music or talk radio, if that is your thing. I was amazed with how good that old AM sounded and just how 'right' Canned Heat and Deep Purple can sound on it. I love this thing and I am getting another one for my other AM radio equipped pinto!

Tell me, doesn't that AM just look 'right' in there?

As much as I would like to listen to music in my car sometime, I dont think I could stand going from a nice headphone setup to that old mono speaker in my car :P Ill stick with local talk radio when I can get reception.
