V8 swap in Mustang II
« on: September 11, 2007, 04:51:34 PM »
same as Pinto right? I have a chance to buy a 302 4 speed from a 83 Mustang, and wanted to install it into my daughters 74 Mustang II (it had a 2.8 v6 but she blew it up) I know the best way is to find V8 II mounts, manifolds, front sump oil pan etc.  Anyone try to install without these parts, I'm a good fabricator so that's not a problem....how about trans etc....see any problems I don't know about...thanks for helping a brother out

This may very well be just like the Pinto since the 74 Mustang II was unique.  It went through a redesign in 75 when they made the 302 an available option.  You may have issues with the radiator fitment, but I am not completely certain.  Good luck!

You will most likely need the small flywheel and bellhousing specific to the Mustang II.  Either that or some tunnel surgery.
The Pinto I had I gave to my brother. The car was originally my mom's, (78 red Pinto sedan with a 2.3 and a 4spd.) I am originally from Tucson, AZ but moved to Oxnard CA :D
I'm looking for a Pinto wagon with an automatic.

sure only if it's the V8 version, I have a rebuilt V6 radiator....th ink it will supply enough cooling, if it's an issue with clearance between fan and radiator, how about electric fans instead?  Yeah I heard about the bellhousing issue :-\
