2.0 SOHC 1970's Enigine rebuild help
« on: July 15, 2006, 09:19:36 PM »
Obscuure question.  Trying to confirm the direction of the pistons and rods on a 2.0 SOHC Pinto motor.  The rods have a oil squirter on one side of the rod half way up.  Facing the front of the motor are the squirters facing left?  Thanks Allan

Yes the squirter is on the left if looking from the front of the motor.  If you are working with a stock parts, the piston has an arrow on its top giving the direction also (the arrow points forward and is located on the piston's top in the forward most location).

FYI: In the manuals, the convention is to look at the engine from the back when assigning right and left.  So using this orientation the squirter would be on the right and the numbers would be on the left.
