on my 1980 Runabout someone before me painted the woodgrain ebrake handle & shifter trim black & I don't like it. I want the woodgrain look back in the car & am wondering if it is possible to strip paint from plastic without harming or discoloring it. If so what would be used?

I've stripped several plastic models by soaking them in
Pine-sol cleaner. This works great on that plastic and
might not be as harsh as brake fluid. Has anyone else
ever tried this? I put it in a "shoe box" size plastic "tote"
and let it soak overnite The paint just wipes off. It works
wonders on "bug bomb" and "model" paint. I'm not sure how
it would work on real automotive paint. I then strain it and
put it back in the bottle till next time.
