Weird Coincidence:  I live in CA.  Bought my V8 Pinto from PintoPaul in Idaho and needed to sell my BMW K1200LT to make room for it in the garage.  It just sold it on ebay...to a guy in Idaho!

What year ? I know for a fact the the 1974 to etc 2.3 used the FL-1A from Motorcraft .If it's not a Motorcraft Filter get rid of it...FRAM has had alot of failures lately...on the 2.3 engines .

A lot of people swear by Fram...I'll never use one unless i'm in desperation mode and then it will be replaced asap. We use Napa and Fleetgaurd filters at work. I use Napa on my personal vehicles. A lot of the older Fords use the same filter between the V8's and 6cyl engines. 1515 is the filter # for Napa. The 1.6 engine uses a totally different one but the 2.0 and 2.3 use the 1515.

I am curious to know what type of failures Fram has had as stated above. I remember back in the day, it was Pennziol and Fram PH8A. What fails, and what is the outcome?

Thanks,
Dave

On Fram filters the paper element tends to come apart & you can imagine what happens once that happens.  When I worked for Advance Auto I heard that so many times about the paper element coming apart & starving the engine of oil so that would prevent me from ever buying a Fram filter.
