sounds like u need to replace the entire thing if it is stil leaking

You might try 2 gaskets cut out the center just use the thicker flat part of the gasket, makes a tight fit.

That bail wire should take some serious pressure to snap over the cap. If it's not a tight fit try bending it to make it tight.
