OK my engine is a 71-73 2.0 Ford Pinto engine, I have a Offenhauser Intake manifold 4 BBL their is a adapter plate but I would prefer to use a carb that will boolt up to this manifold if possible. Has anyone used a Holley 390 cfm with this set up? Or is their a Edelbrock carb that will also mount up?

Yes the Holley 390 CFM carb is what you need to locate, they have not made them for many years. This carb was specially designed by Holley for use on Pinto and Vega 4 Cyl's it is not the same as their current 390 cfm carbs (like NASCAR 390's) They do show up occasionally on E-Bay and in the classifieds on this site. They often fetch a fair amount of money, but are worth it when properly tuned. I have both the Spearco manifold/390 Holley and the Offy/390 Holley set ups I prefer the Spearco mainfold but did run the Offy for years with no problems.

Never knew there was a difference in the old and new style 390's, when I had the 2.0 in my car I got the carb from Summit, they still have it listed for $350.00, they also have the HP series 390 that is a race carb, ($700.00)
Anyways, my car ran great with the "new style" carb on a Weiend intake.
When I put the V8 in my car, I got the carb from an e-bay store called Extreme Performance Carburetors. You fill out a very detailed spec sheet on your car and they build and dyno test a carb for your set-up. I bolted mine on and didn't have to turn a screw on it, not even the idle! Very reasonable price to boot.  ;D
If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

I just purchased the newer Holley 390 CFM (0-8007) as no one seemd to have the 390 CFM with manual choke anywhere, I oredered the kit version from JEGS the cost was $372.00 + $15.99 for the air cleaner and filter and $13.99 to ship NO sales Tax so I felt i got a good deal as the Holley web page had it for $550.00 just for the carb and a few other places where as High as $700.00.

I am currently trying to tune a 390hp Holley, on my 2.0L, I'll let you know how that goes after my jets come in, (no one stocks holley jets below 64 around here) at this point I'm not sure if it'll work well or not, it might just be to big for my combo....

I have a pair of the NASCAR 390's that I plan to run on a tunnel rammed 302 once it's in my '73.

I was going to pick up another one to use on my 4 bbl. Offy intake on my 2300 but the way the secondaries kick in it's not well suited to a 4 banger unless you want 10 mpg out of it. The new 390 will work just fine if you tune it right but I like the ready to run version 71pintoracer referenced.

I have a 465 Holley with manual secondaries that I plan to try when the time comes.

The best one to find is the list #6299 390. It was actually calibrated for the 2.0. I had to richen mine to 55 jets from 50 stock on my 2.0. The one on my 2.3 took 52 jets to smooth out. The #8007 might benefit from the racer walsh idle feed restrictors if it loads up. Those are most suited for 6 cyls right out of the box. The good thing is Holleys are fairly simple to tinker with.
