Hiii, Pinto Afficiandos

I need to find a home for my much beloved, black Pinto in the next 24 hours.
It is non operational and is located in the hills above Beverly Hills.  It was working when last driven in the late 70's or early 80's, but it has been sitting on flat tires for 20 or more years.  It has been outside in the driveway with car cover.  Local tree rats have been partying in the upholstery.

I have sold my house and moved this week.  The new owner of the house will be sending it to the car crusher and I can't bear that possibility.  I thought I received it as a gift Christmas 1969, but perhaps my memory fails me and it was 1970.  One of the first ones.  We special ordered it in black because most of the other Pintos were, in what I call 'cupcake colors.'  It was stunning.  People thought it was an Italian car!

I guess I don't mind if it is used for parts.  Of course, I would love someone to restore it to its' original glory.

I have never posted on a message board before.  Is this going to one person
or will it be widely posted?  If just to one, could you please help me post it so that everyone in Southern California can see it?  Is there a phone number I can call to help find a new owner for my sweet baby?

Thanks very much.  I tried posting in classifieds but I am not sure I succeeded.  It said 'error!  this has already been posted.'  If you can help spread the word, or retrieve my listing, I would be very grateful.  I will try again in the morning.  I wish I had known this Pinto club existed a long time ago.  It has been my pet pony all these years.  Hope it can be put out to a pasture  with other ponies and pony lovers.

OK.  Thanks for the extra attention!!  I just succeeded in listing.  I think : )  Can you see it?
If you are in contact with any Southern California members, could you please bring to their attention - in case they aren't cruising the Pinto classifieds every day?  Do you have any contact numbers or addresses for local members who could help me save the pony from being put down?

Are there any professional restorer/dealers or hobbyists with space to accomodate it?  I am also an animal lover and I do make pets of the cars.  I just sold a '70 Mercedes convertible: ( and still have a 20 year old Honda wagon and 33 year old Mercedes wagon.
I'm keeping those.  At least for now!

I don't know about being a "Knight in Shining Armor", maybe a Knight in Shining Armor All... ;)  I got the car home safe and sound considering it had four rotten flat tires (sitting since 1980), no ignition key so unsteerable, and all four wheels locked up. It is still way too nice to send to the crusher. I have most of the parts left over from my race car conversion to put it back into shape including a complete interior, grill, bumpers, etc, etc. The rats turned the interior into toast so I will be going from factory black to the honey brown interior that I saved from my other 71. It will be a good contrast from the factory black exterior (special ordered). The car has 63K original miles (2.0L Auto). The door corners and one rear quarter panel has a quarter sized rust spot/bubbled paint and a little surface rust here and there but nothing fatal. Floors and underside are solid. Thank you Betsy for the gift. I am glad I could save it on such short notice and thank you Chuy for coming to the rescue with your muscle and truck (I could not have done it without you, I can hardly move today). I'm planning on turning this into a nice semi stock cruiser with maybe some Libre Wheels to set off the black exterior, upgrade the front drums to discs, paint, but little else. With no air, I will be crusin' with the windows down for sure 8)  Here are some pics with my own tires and rims (hub caps left off but came with)....

Glad someone could step up to the plate and save it... as you said, it's WAY too nice for the crusher!

Thanks Scott,
I spent a good part of the day cleaning the new Pinto. I opened the oil filler cap and held my breath. The cam lobes (that I could see) are clean with no ridges and NO INTERNAL RUST! ;D ;D ;D The gas tank and radiator need to be boiled but everything looks good. The trans fluid is still redish.

Ohhhh.  It still looks beautiful to me.  Such wonderful memories...  Thank you, Charles.  You ARE a Knight in Shining Armor.  That was a heroic rescue on a record hot day.  It warms my heart that someone with the capability to restore it, has it.  Much loved, but sitting on rotten tires for decades is not its' best life.  I hope I will be able to see it again after the mess of this drastic move is over.  Happy pasture for the pony : )  Maybe it can meet some other Pintos when it is mobile.  Wish I had found all of you years ago.
