Stampede needs support vehicles.
« on: September 07, 2010, 03:33:49 PM »
If you are in the southern California, Northern California or the Northeast (PA, NJ, NY, CT) we need reliable pickup trucks and car trailers. Here is what we can do. Pay to tune up your vehicle (belts, hoses and fluids) give you a tax deductible letter equal to a U-Haul rental (call me for numbers, it will depend on your distances) which is a substantial amount for a tax deduction. (could be $3,000.00 or more for a pickup, less for a trailer)  If you want to come along, we will pay the gas and you can drive with us.  Contact me with serious inquiries and relaible vehicles only at bosspinto@pintostampede.com once again this is for a charity drive and is tax deductible. We will put from 3,000- 5,000 miles round trip on the vehicle depending on your area.

It makes me wish that a) I had a clone, and b) I could take my work-truck (a Dodge Ram 3500(?)) that sounds like a full-size semi truck but is just a lil pick-em-up. She is POWERFUL! She also has a trailer hitch!

What's the tow capacity of the truck? The Pinto might not be too heavy.

I don't know... I do know the engine is a Cummins 24 valve diesel engine... it can tow a porta-potty trailer.  It's moot though... CalTrans will not let me do it! lol.

Norm, I'm thinking of bringing extra stuff along, besides just for my car...like 2.0 and maybe 2.3 belts, hoses, spark plugs,...

Becky,
If the truck isn't big enough, we will work out another vehicle and then maybe some more southern Cali Stampeders.  I have my truck and I also have another one lined up form my end.  Drivers and Trailers are next on the list.  Get me a list of parts you will bring and I can add them to the list i am building on the site. Things are picking up, this is going to be one for the books.

Norm, it's a work vehicle (state property) so there'd be NO WAY I could take it! lol. I only wish I COULD borrow it for the Stampede.  ;D

Right now i have two pickup trucks coming from the east coast.  Still looking for those from the west coast, anyone interested?  Maybe someone who doesn't have a Pinto road worthy, but wants to come along anyway? I realy want to have vehicles going back west to cover the way home, I don't wnat anyone stranded.  Trailers are still needed as well.

Becky, We don't want you to take a state vehicle, unless they want to donate it for a good cause?

r4pinto, are you donating an engine? I will be glad to bring it along. It will be like the 24 hours of lemons, we could do a roadside engine change.  :hypno:

 That would be cool, although my engine is far from complete. She donated half her parts to the engine in the car currently. I am going to be bringing a toolbox that has frequently failing parts on the car, as well as the tools to hopefully change them. Should be lots of fun.

West coast still needed.
East coast is covered, two support vehicles set up with trailers. (covering people driving out to the start from the east as well as the Stampede)
We would like to see at least one Northern California and one Southern California support vehicle. It is immperative that we have a trailer going back so those making the long haul get back home safely....
If you plan on coming from either location with a trailer and would not mind helping someone in need on the way home, please let us know. If you want to come along on the trip but don't have a Pinto, or if you know someone who might just be crazy enough to ride along with us, please let me know@:
